Beginner Triathlon Training

So before you even get started with your beginner triathlon training for the big day, there are some things to have a look at, Click Here for Top Gear. OK, now, first let’s talk about you. How much time do you have to devote, are you married? Do you have children? Do you have a full time job? All these factors must be considered, but understand that they are not inhibitors, they are just factors to your overall strategy.
Many people with full time careers and families participate in triathlons every year. You just need to be organized and ready for some sacrifices, so you can get your triathlon training in. Let’s talk about equipment needs. Before we itemize this, we need you to answer the question, are you wanting to be competitive in your triathlon or not? If yes, then that could change the list.
If your new to the sport, your most likely will choose a beginner triathlon training
program that will help you to do your first sprint triathlon race. This race usually has a pool swim of 300-400 yards, a 15 mile or so bike, followed by a 5k. This is a great place to start to see if you will fall in love with the sport as we did. The pool swim will be less intimidating then an open water swim, and less to worry about in general. So lets get into the equipment side.
Beginner triathlon training equipment list.
•goggles
•suit that you can ride and run in as well, might want some light padding for the ride.
•suntan lotion, be protected
•two towels, one to dry your feet, and one to lay your bike and run stuff out if you have room
Bike
•bike “duh”
•bike shoes
•socks
•helmet with a strap
- GEAR BAG FOR ALL THIS STUFF….
•sunglasses
•gloves, very optional
•spare tube or two for your tires
•a way to pump the tire up if your on the course
•water bottles with Gatorade, water or your choice of drink
Run
•running shoes
•hat or visor (if you usually wear one)Misc.
•might want to bring some basic bike tools, just in case
•I sometimes would bring a bucket, seriously to sit on
•some nutrition depending on the length of your race, some gu’s, bars, bloks
•I bring everything in a back pack, gives me a place for keys and cell phone if I’m alone for the day
•recovery drink for the ride home
Beginner triathlon training final thoughts.
There is no need to drop a ton of money on gear, especially if your doing your first triathlon, once you get bit by the triathlon bug,then go for it, upgrade later. Key is to have fun during your race and your beginner triathlon training, be comfortable and come prepared, recommend getting there plenty early for your beginner triathlon race.
