Prioritizing Your Races
To execute this step a list of your races is needed. If you’re not sure about when your races are going to be use last year’s dates to get it as close as possible. Races typically are on the same weekends year after year. On your calendar list all the races you intend to do my recommendation is Google calendar. If using Google calendar you are able to list your races by color, and you’re A races will stand out when you glance at your calendar.
You’re A Races
This number should be no more than four total. The A race is what you have picked as your personal big race for the year, not necessarily one that is bigger in general. It is important to you personally. All of your training will be revolving around these races.
It will be best if two of the four (if you have four) of these races are together in a two or three week time frame to make training easier to build up for. You want to peak for you’re A races.
You will most likely have one “Big Daddy” race for your year, it will be best if this race is in the second half of the season when your fitness is at its height. Make sure on your calendar you have coded you’re A races.
Your B and C races
Your B races are important races that you want to do well but take second place to your A races. You could select as many as 12 of these B races.
Your C races are races that you will train through, they will be on your schedule to keep you race sharp, transition training and have fun. But you will not back off training leading into these races, and make sure that if training is more important that you back off and not do your C race.
You now have your entire race calendar full, next we will divide the year into periods and finally assign weekly hours.
