Planning your Entire Season-Part 5
So a quick review, we have figured out our yearly goals, established what we want to achieve by establishing our training objectives, set our annual training hours, then broke them down to the weekly amounts, and set up all of our races, dividing them up into A-B-C races for our season.
We are almost done, thank-goodness. Let’s talk about how your year will flow, specifically dividing your year into periods. The goal is to peak for you’re A races which of course is when you want to be ready to race at your best. Off season should have a transition of 1-6 weeks, depending on what you personally need which would depend on how much you did last year.
Preparation for your Season
Preparation phase should be about 3-4 weeks, leading into base building which will range depending on your schedule anywhere from 8-20 weeks before you peak for you’re A races. Don’t forget during this base building you will be racing your b and c races.
Peak is 1-2 weeks out of your Priority ( A ) race.
Your want to peak just before you hit the starting line with a slight taper of your training. Arriving at the start healthy and ready to race; if you want more information on this I highly recommend checking out the triathlon training bible. This Link Will Take you To it.
